Starting Nursery
Starting nursery is a big step for both children and parents! Some children settle very quickly while others take a bit longer. Each child is an individual and we try to treat them as such. What works for one may not work for another, so do try to be patient and don't try to rush your child.
We are a small, friendly caring nursery. Most of the staff have children who have attended Little Fingers Nursery.
There is off street parking for easy delivery and collecting of children, sole use of a secure outdoor play area and the large Church hall for wet play.
Children are admitted throughout the year, so we would love to hear from you if you’d like to get in touch and find out more!
A typical morning
Many activities are available to the children at the nursery. This is the usual pattern of the day although there is room for flexibility:
9:00 Free Play - construction, make-believe, sand, water, painting, puzzles and an adult-led activity linked to the term’s theme.
10:30 - 11:00 Circle Time - an opportunity to talk about the theme of the week. Dance, Sport and Music teachers visit during the week
11:00 - 11:30 Snack Time - milk, water and healthy snacks are provided.
11:30 - 12:20 Outside Play - with bicycles, prams, balls etc. During wet weather the climbing frame, slide and tunnels are also used in the church area.
12:20 - 12;30 Story Time - before going home. The afternoons follow a similar format to the mornings with activities to extend the older children.
Parent Reviews…
“Little Fingers has been the most wonderful nursery for our daughter. She has been nurtured, loved and taught so well. The staff create a safe and gentle environment where our daughter has explored, adventured and learnt.
Highly recommend.” - Sam
“5 stars is not enough to fully describe how great this little Nursery is. My daughter has attended Little Fingers for 18 months now, during which time she was diagnosed with Autism. The staff (wonderful ladies!) are attentive and kind and have been unerringly generous in terms of help and support whilst we have been going through the diagnostic process. They have been flexible and responsive to her changing needs and swift to supply any feedback we needed to move forward with diagnosis. They immediately made all the necessary SEN adjustments to make her time at nursery even more accessible and enjoyable. The 1-1 time she has received has been invaluable to her development and she has had the best fun there! It's so wonderful to see her skip in to Nursery with joy and excitement every day!
Their expertise, wisdom, patience and care have benefited her in more ways than can easily be summarised here.
A deeply wonderful early years setting.” - Celeste
“Our experience at Little Fingers Nursery was absolutely exceptional. The staff's genuine care, the captivating learning environment, and their unwavering commitment to our child's well-being combined to create the perfect nursery experience for our son.” - Dovile
“Little Fingers Nursery is absolutely wonderful!
The amazing staff create such a kind, inclusive and fun environment and the space lends itself brilliantly for the kids to play, explore and learn. We are so thankful for the incredible start this has given our little boy and couldn’t recommend this nursery more highly! ✨✨✨” - Amy
“The most wonderful little nursery, like a home away from home for the little ones who attend. You could not find a kinder, more nurturing, fun and inclusive little nursery anywhere else! Highly recommend!!” - Megan
“Both my children have attended little fingers nursery and they have loved every second of it. The staff are so warm and friendly and so loving and nurturing towards the children, you always know they will be safe and happy when you drop them off.
The staff who are there have been there for such a long time it’s like a little family. I couldn’t recommend this nursery enough.” - Daisy
“Little Fingers has been such a gift to our family. Our little one has really thrived there and has been happy since day one. The nurture and expertise of the staff is second to none and we would highly recommend the nursery to others. It really is a wonderful place.” - Jenni
“Our son loved his time at Little Fingers Nursery. We can't speak highly enough of how loving and nurturing an environment this was for him.
The staff are all amazing.” - Tim
“There isn't enough stars here to give little fingers nursery. I completely agree with the other reviews that it is a family. I feel blessed to have had my 7 year old go there and now my 3 year old currently attending. There is such a variety of things they do and to be honest I am a little jealous of the none stop fun. The ladies there are full of heart and my daughter is coming home with her pictures and paintings that she has started to write her own name on. They add so much learning into every activity which is amazing. There is always a happy atmosphere and both the inside and outside are full of adventure.
Nobody could ask for more in finding a happy place to be.” - Lorna
